Empowering Ethiopia’s Youth Transforming Lives Through Employment & Skills Development through Sourcing, Screening and Allocation of labour Initiative

Objective: To drive inclusive economic growth by connecting marginalized youth, especially women, to sustainable employment and fostering long-term employability.

Impact: The project empowered over 54,000 Ethiopian youth, including 43,000 women, with jobs, skills training, and financial literacy, improving retention and working conditions.

Location: Focused on Hawassa and Jimma Industrial Parks, and 70 woredas across Sidama, Southern, and Central Ethiopia.

SME Formation Unlocking Career Growth & Entrepreneurship for Industrial Park Workers

Objective: To address employment challenges by providing career growth opportunities, financial empowerment, and entrepreneurship training, enabling young workers to transition from factory jobs to sustainable careers or self-employment.

Impact: The Tatari Project empowered young female industrial park workers in Ethiopia through financial literacy, entrepreneurship training, and career development, leading to the establishment of Jewata Garment Factory, a women-owned enterprise, and improved job retention and self-sufficiency.

Location: Focused on industrial parks in Ethiopia, particularly Hawassa Industrial Park, and supporting women-led enterprises in the region.

Transforming Organizational Culture at Ethiopian Procurement and Supply Agency
  • Objective:To drive sustainable organizational culture change at EPSA by aligning leadership, employees, and operations with a renewed vision, core values, and a strategic roadmap for long-term excellence..
  • Impact: The project transformed the Ethiopian Pharmaceutical Supply Agency (EPSA) into a values-driven, high-performing organization by strengthening leadership cohesion, redefining organizational values, and enhancing workforce engagement, accountability, and ethical standards.
  • Location: The initiative focused on EPSA’s headquarters and its 19 branch warehouses across Ethiopia, serving over 3,800 health facilities and impacting 105 million people nationwide.
Strengthening Organizational Excellence at a Financial Services Organization
  • Objective:To enhance organizational performance through a comprehensive overhaul, including HR strategy alignment, optimized staffing, transparent job grading, and robust policies, ensuring sustainable growth and employee engagement.
  • Impact:The project strengthened organizational excellence by optimizing structures, policies, and workforce strategies, leading to improved operational efficiency, employee satisfaction, and long-term growth in Ethiopia’s digital financial sector.
  • Location: The initiative focused on a financial services organization operating in Ethiopia’s digital financial sector, impacting its workforce and operational framework nationwide.
Strengthening Wage Practices for Sustainable Supply Chains Fair Wage Assessment in Ethiopia
  • Objective: To assess and improve wage practices in Ethiopia’s industrial sector by evaluating wage structures, benchmarking fair wage standards, and guiding policies for fairer and more sustainable labor conditions.
  • Impact: The project provided data-driven insights to improve wage structures, promote fair compensation, and strengthen ethical labor practices across Ethiopia’s industrial parks, benefiting workers and supporting sustainable supply chains.
  • Location: The initiative covered 25 factories across five major industrial parks in Ethiopia, impacting wage practices and labor conditions nationwide.
Upskilling Youth for the Future of Work
  • Objective: To bridge the digital and economic divide by providing marginalized youth with practical skills training, fostering inclusivity, and creating pathways to sustainable employment and entrepreneurship in Ethiopia. .
  • Impact: The Mesirat Programme empowered 500 marginalized and vulnerable youth, including women, refugees, and individuals with disabilities, by equipping them with digital literacy, entrepreneurship, and soft skills, enabling them to access formal employment and gig economy opportunities.
  • Location: The program primarily focused on Hawassa, Ethiopia, with extensive community outreach and training initiatives targeting vulnerable groups in the region.
Feasibility Study on Private Sector Participation in Affordable Worker Housing Bole Lemi, Kombolcha, and Mekelle Special Economic Zones
  • Objective: To assess the feasibility of private sector participation in developing affordable housing for factory workers in Bole Lemi, Kombolcha, and Mekelle Special Economic Zones, ensuring sustainable and inclusive housing solutions.
  • Impact: The study created a scalable framework for private sector investment in affordable worker housing, improving living conditions for industrial workers and fostering economic growth, urban development, and industrial competitiveness in Ethiopia.
  • Location: The study focused on Bole Lemi, Kombolcha, and Mekelle Special Economic Zones in Ethiopia, addressing housing needs for industrial workers in these regions.
